The name of the village comes from the name of the arab tribe Banu-Jalid, which lived at that place.

It is a village with lots of arab style architecture, like the arab castle, later belonging to the Count of Feria (who had the village as his domain) and at the moment being the cementery. It has got a square ground with cylindrical towers. Benadalid was conquered by the Christians in 1485. Near the village there can be seen the rests of another arab setlement called Benamaya.

It celebrates the Fair in honour of its Patron Saint St. Isidoro at august, from 27th to 29th, with traditional fights between the arab and christian troups. It is also famous the festivity of the Corpus Christi with an exhibition of wonderful street altars, stopping the procession at each of them. It is also remarkable the celebration of the Day of the Cross, on may, 1st. It os also famous the Fair of arabs and christians.

It produces cherries, white figs, honey and olives.
