It has got the biggest expanse of Ronda's region and the second one of the whole province of Malaga. It is located at the frontier between Malaga and Cadiz, at the territories of Benadalid, Benarrabá, Benalauría, Jimena de la Frontera, Jimera de Líbar, Montejaque, Benaoján, Ubrique and Villanueva del Rosario.

It enjoys of an important forest expnase of 15.000 Ha., filled with holm oaks, cork oaks and gall oaks, with an important cattle raising development, specially concerning cows, sheeps, goats and pigs. It has got also minor hunting and the birds of passage are also common there. It produces cheese made with sheep and goat milk, honey, oil, and cork. It produces also craftwork concerning leather goods, pottery, ceramics and furniture.

Cortes de la Frontera was also birthplace of the arab lordwar and leader Almanzor. Its city hall is an important work of the 18th century. It is also important the church, dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary, and the pilgrimage dedicated to this image.The village's Fair is dedicated to St. Roque and St. Sebastian at august. Concerning the buildings there can be seen noble houses with arm coats at its front.

There can also be seen rests of roman and arab setlements, the ruins of the Roman city of Saeponta, the Tower of the Paso and the House of Stone. The tower was a Midle Age construction and the House, a mozarab church.

At the expanse of this village there can be also found the Natural Park of La Sauceda.
